Ledger & Lock helps small business owners in the United States choose and use the software they run on, and keep it secure. We cover accounting, payroll, payments, CRM, and the everyday cybersecurity habits that protect all of it.
Who this site is for
- Owners and operators of businesses with roughly 1 to 50 employees
- Freelancers and solo founders setting up their first business tools
- Office managers who handle software, passwords, and IT on top of their real job
How we research and write
- Primary sources first. We work from official pricing pages, product documentation, vendor security pages, and government guidance such as the IRS, the FTC, and CISA, and we link to them.
- Dates on everything. Software prices and features change often. Each article notes when its information was checked, and we update articles when things change.
- No fake hands-on claims. We do not pretend to have tested a product when we have not. Comparisons are based on published pricing, documented features, and publicly available user feedback, and we say so.
- Independent opinions. Vendors cannot pay to change our conclusions. If an article contains affiliate links, we disclose it clearly (see our Disclaimer & Disclosure).
- AI-assisted, human-checked process. We use AI tools to help organize research and draft articles. Facts, numbers, and claims are checked against the sources before publishing.
What we are not
We are not accountants, attorneys, or a managed IT provider. Our articles are general information to help you ask better questions and make informed decisions. For tax, legal, or incident response decisions, talk to a qualified professional.
